E3 2015: Sony- June 15 9:00 PM EST

This year for Sony’s E3 presentation, I will be taking part in Sony’s E3 Experience. During the presentation, movie theaters across the country will be streaming it live. Check out Sony’s E3 Experience page for locations and tickets. I already got my seat reserved and I’ll post my review of it on here.

Here are some of the things I expect to see during Sony’s E3 2015 presentation:

Project Morpheus (Release Date: 2016?)

Project Morpheus is Sony’s bid in the virtual reality headset game. This headset is compatible with the PS 4. There’s no exact release date for the headset. In recent interviews, Sony is looking to hopefully release it early 2016. At GDC (Game Developers Conference) 2015, Sony revealed an updated design for the Project Morpheus headset. Wearable.com wrote about some of the details with the design and display:

"The 2015 Project Morpheus keeps its predecessor's Full HD 1920 x 1080 display, but ups it from 5-inches to 5.7-inches, which gives a 100-degree field of vision. It also features RGB subpixels, which help smooth out the image.
A more important upgrade here is to the refresh rate, which runs at a 120Hz instead of 60Hz - higher than both the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive's 90Hz. Early games won't natively run at 120 FPS - instead the PlayStation4's reprojection software will add an extra "tween" every frame to make it feel like they are, but the overall experience should be silky-smooth."

Project Morpheus Compatible Games:

  • Among The Sleep (Krillbite Studio)
  • The Assembly (nDreams)
  • The Castle (SCE)
  • Cult County (Renegade Kid)
  • The Deep (SCE London Studio)
  • Eve Valkyrie (CCP Games)
  • Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 (Scottgames)
  • Jurassic Encounter (Supermassive Games)
  • Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes (Steel Crate)
  • London Heist (SCE London Studios)
  • Magic Controller (SCE)
  • Project CARS (Slightly Mad Studios)
  • Q.U.B.E² (Toxic Games)
  • Street Luge (SCE London Studios)
  • Surgeon Simulator (Bossa Studios)
  • Summer Lesson (Katsuhiro Harada)
  • Thief (Eidos Montréal)
  • The Toybox (SCE)
  • War Thunder (Gaijin Entertainment)

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End (Spring 2016)

Uncharted 4 Banner

The hype train for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End has already begun. Giant banners (like the one above) are already up around the conference center hosting E3. The photo was tweeted out by Naughty Dog co-president, Evan Wells.

Uncharted 4 has been rumored to be the final chapter in Nathan Drake’s story.

God of War IV (Release Date: ?)

Rumors are surfacing online that Sony will be announcing the release date for God of War IV during E3. There have been some speculation that the release date could be late 2016 or early 2017.

Sony has already announced they are working on a remastered version of God of War III and released this trailer for it:

*Note: The God of War logo appears 4 times at the end of the trailer. Could this be a hint to the upcoming God of War IV?

No Man’s Sky (Release Date: 2015)

No Man’s Sky is an upcoming adventure exploring game by Hello Games. In the game, you take on the role of a planetary explorer. You get to travel to numerous planets and explore the surface. The game was showcased during last year’s E3.  I’m very much interested in this game. I love the look of the game and the usage of color in the design of the game. I’m always interested in open world games and this one sells itself as an “open universe” game. During last year’s E3, it was noted that this game “stole the show”. It will be interesting to see how it will followup during this year’s E3.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Exclusive Timed Content Announcement

As I mentioned in my last Geeky Guide: E3 2015: Microsoft, it has been rumored that Microsoft’s exclusivity deal with Call of Duty could be ending or has already ended. If this is true, Sony could pick up that deal and announce that they will be the ones to get the DLCs before anyone else.

Destiny: The Taken King Expansion (Release Date: September 2015)

It was just leaked that Destiny’s next expansion will be called “The Taken King”. The rumor is this expansion is going to be BIG: 12 new story missions, new planet, a raid, four new strikes and new multiplayer maps. With that said, you could be looking at a bigger price tag than the usual $20 for the other expansions, “The Dark Below” and “House of Wolves.”

Destiny 2? I highly doubt that we will see an announcement for Destiny 2, especially if they are releasing such a large expansion this time around. Maybe for E3 2016.
