Microsoft E3 2015 Conference- June 15th at 12:30 PM EST
Here is my next installment of Geeky Guide: E3 2015. You can check out my previous editions here: Bethesda and Nintendo. For this edition, I will focusing on what I believe/hope to see from Microsoft’s presentation at E3 2015.
Halo 5 Guardians (Release Date: October 27, 2015)
Halo 5: Guardians is upon us. It’s no secret now that Halo 5 will be featured during the Microsoft presentation for E3 since it is the flagship game for Microsoft. With a release date of October 27, you can expect a great deal of gameplay to be presented on stage. Xbox head Phil Spencer has already mentioned on twitter that the Halo 5 campaign will have some “nice additions”. The artwork for Halo 5 has featured a new armored figure named Agent Locke.
Halo: Nightfall will be a new live-action series that will focus on the origin of Agent Locke. The series will be produced by Ridley Scott. Nightfall is scheduled to debut in the fall with weekly new episodes.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 (Release Date: November 6, 2015)

To me I have always associated Call of Duty (COD) with Xbox. Every time I play COD on Playstation, it just feels so unnatural. A rumor is spreading around the internet that the exclusivity deal with Call of Duty and Microsoft maybe coming to an end and moving to PlayStation. The teaser trailer for Black Ops 3 was posted on Sony’s Youtube account, which adds fuel to the flames since Sony is showing a bit more love for promoting Call of Duty than it did in the past.
One thing is for certain, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Multiplayer will be playable for those attending E3 this year.
Windows 10 Gaming Experience
Microsoft has been paying closer attention to PC gamers lately. Over the past decade, Valve’s Steam has been extremely successful as an Internet-based digital distributor for PC games. With Windows 10, Microsoft is trying to unify the gap between Xbox One and PC gaming with a new steaming feature.
According to Forbes.com, with this new OS you can stream Xbox One console gameplay onto any device with Windows 10. Since they said any device, I’m assuming that includes tablets. In this report they also mentioned you have to be in range of the console, which is similar to the Wii U (I hope the range is wider than the Wii U).
The future is NIGH!!!
This feels very much like a futuristic movie and is an exciting sneak peek as to what the future could hold for us. It has been confirmed on microsoft’s website that HoloLens is coming to E3. It was posted on there, “Holographic computing promises whole new ways for us to create, collaborate, work, and play. We look forward to showing and telling you more at E3, the world’s premier trade show for computer and video games and related products.” E3 is the perfect playground for Microsoft to show off this shiny new toy.
Last year Microsoft purchased Minecraft for $2.5 billion. I feel like if you are going to spend that much on a game then you might have to show off what you are going to do with it. After watching the HoloLens video, you see a Minecraft-like game so maybe we will see a compatibility with that device. Rumors surrounding Minecraft is that there will be a story mode added to the game.
Gears of War 4
Another game franchise purchased by Microsoft last year was Gears of War. There has been shuffling and name changes with the studio creating Gears of War; they are now being called the Coalition instead of Black Tusk. The Coalition will be a studio dedicated to Gears of War. The head of the studio, Rod Fergusson, released this video announcement about the rebranding and also gave us a heads up to stay tuned for E3 for what is next for the franchise.
Other Games to look forward to during the Microsoft E3 presentation:
Fable Legends, Forza 6, Rise of the Tomb Raider
